Pirastro Passione Viola Strings

This wound gut core string has a very short playing-in time and substantial increase in tuning stability. It has well-balanced set harmony, easy response on all levels of the dynamic range and easier right hand articulation and tone attack. Provides the bewitching beauty of gut string sound, a fascinating diversity of sounds, complex overtone spectrum producing brilliance and clarity and a great power of projection. The sound can be big and powerful as well as gentle and tender.

LOVE these strings!

The Passione strings are amazing! They are very easy to play and give a rich sound with a lot of depth. There are SO many sound colors I can pull out of my instrument with these strings! For some time, my A string was too bright for my liking, but I am happy with the Passione A. I also love the strength of the C; it is satisfyingly dark, but it also projects well even in higher positions. When I got my first set of Passiones, the C broke within a couple of months, but after being replaced, all the strings lasted the school year. That has really been my only disappointment with the strings, and the replacement C has lasted me well. The D just broke after 10 months of use, which I was satisfied with given my practicing around 5-6 hours/week, working on some of the standard sonata/concerto/solo repertoire (Walton, Schubert, Reger), and playing fairly frequently in ensembles or solo performances. (These strings are also WONDERFUL for playing solo Bach!) I just replaced with a new set of Passiones and ordered another set for spares. These are so far my favorite strings!

I'm Passionate about Passione

These are truly something else.
I've used Evah Pirazzi for the past few years with some success, and tried these mainly out of curiosity. I struggled for some time with an overly strident sound, and my constant frustration was my inability to play softly without losing core. For this I blamed myself. Moreover, the high tension of the Evahs made them difficult to play, but I feared changing to something lighter would make my already dark instrument too dark.
The Passiones have fixed everything ó even the other problems I didn't realize I had. Their low tension makes them easy to play, and have an astounding range of color. They are very easy to control, even at the softest dynamics, and stay in tune remarkably well. Their sound is mellow, but not overly dark. They are wonderfully well-balanced over the set, and acheive a consistently beautiful tone no matter the sounding point or dynamic. My praise could go on and on.
I'm now on my second set and I couldn't be happier. These strings have revitalized my instrument and my playing. Just talking to others about them gets me all emotional ó which is ridiculous; I know they're just strings ó yet somehow they deserve it.
Buy them. They're absolutely perfect, and worth every penny.
