Why didn’t I get a receipt or packing list with my order?

To help reduce our environmental impact, we’ve gone paperless! To view order and payment details, log in to your account and navigate to My Account > Purchases > Purchase History from the upper right hand dropdown menu. This is also where to go if you need to initiate a return.

Can I return a newly purchased item?

Yes! Shar Music's return policy includes a 30 Day Guarantee for all orders placed. Orders returned in "like new" condition with original packaging within this 30 day window will receive a full refund. Shipping charges for returns are the customer's responsibility, and will not be refunded.

Items returned in less than "like new" condition — basically, any condition that prevents us from shipping your returned item to the next customer who orders it — are subject to a 30% restocking fee. If you're just trying out something new, but not sure it's for you, please open the packaging and handle the item carefully to avoid damage.

Can I return an instrument, bow, or outfit?

Yes! We do everything we can to ensure that all of our instruments and bows are in excellent condition upon shipping. We're confident in our inspection and packing processes, and offer our 30 day guarantee based on this confidence.

Any returned instruments and bows are expected to be received in "like new" condition. Any damages will result in depreciation costs being deducted from your refund amount, up to 50% of the retail price depending on condition. Your price at time of purchase will be the basis against which depreciation costs are considered.

Can I return used rosin, used strings, the Pirastro KorfkerRest or digital downloads?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate the return of these items used. In the case of rosin, "used" is defined as the rosin's surface being marked with scratches, lines, or other signs of use. For strings, "used" is defined as having winding ends, curled ends on the pegbox side, etc. There are no refunds or returns for digital downloads. There are also no refunds for Pirastro KorkerRests due to the customizable nature of the shoulder rest.

Can I return cleaner, polish, or cleaning cloths?

Cleaner, polish, and cleaning cloths can be returned unused and in their original packaging. A 30% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund if the product is returned in any condition less than "like new". Shipping charges for returns are the customer's responsibility, and will not be refunded.

Gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged for cash.

If I miss the window for a promotional discount, can I receive a partial refund to receive my items at the discounted price?

No, we are unable to refund the difference if your order was placed outside of a discount/promotional window. We encourage all of our customers to join our email list, so you never miss a chance for our best prices!

How do I cancel or change my order?

If you need to cancel or change your order, please call our Customer Care line at 800.248.7427 as soon as possible, and one our representatives will help you make any changes.

Depending on timing, and since we make every effort to ship orders as quickly as possible, we might not be able to prevent your order from shipping in time. Whatever the case, our representatives will help to find a solution.

What about factory defects?

We stand behind the quality and safety of all our products. If your item is defective, and it’s been less than 30 days since you placed the order, simply return it to us with your comment "Return policy applied" for replacement. Can I return clearance or final sale items?

No, items purchased as part of a clearance or final sale promotion cannot be returned or exchanged.

If I am outside the United States, can I return items?

International orders have complicated rules, as each country has different custom laws. It might cost you more to return the items due to high government duty and shipping costs. We will evalutate each international return on a case by case basis. Please contact us at for assistance.
