Surpasses My Expectations!

Not wanting to risk my "good" violin in situations that might be less than "violin-friendly" (outdoor venues, etc.), I decided to purchase a less expensive, somewhat "rough and tumble" instrument to accompany me on my more adventurous musical outings. I purchased a traded-in Concert 3/4 outfit. This violin has blown me away!!
As soon after its arrival as possible, I replaced the strings that were on it with a set of Dominants (with a Pirastro Gold-Label E). Even with the old strings, however, the potential of this violin had been evident. Between the new strings and the Liebenzeller Gold II rosin that I use, the tone that my little Concert produces is astounding! I've found, too, that it is an extremely PLAYABLE instrument -- much more so than my original violin (which sold at twice the price of the Concert trade-in). My playing became, almost immediately, more relaxed and comfortable.
The only reason I didn't give the outfit a full 5 stars is that the case just didn't have many of the features I was looking for.
I can, however, recommend to anyone looking for an excellent quality, better-than-the-price-would-indicate student violin that the Franz Hoffmann Concert (new or used) won't disappoint.

Love the FH Concert Violin

First time violin buyer, and we are pleasantly surprised by the quality upon arrival. Our 11 year old has had this violin for 4 months and it sounds and looks amazing as day one. We are so pleased with the product, we are ready to get one more, so the 11YO can have one at home, and leave one at school.

Franz Hoffman Concert Violin

This violin comes with an excellent smooth sound. Definitely not for a beginner, hard to get a loud projection (difficult to get a real forte) but an excellent value, totally worth while for the diligent intermediate student. The case is roomy and nice quality. I really enjoy the sound that is readily achievable with the Brazilwood bow. First-rate quality except that the bows tend to start coming apart after just a few months. Just the leather part near the frog tends to fall off. I enjoy this violin. It is a worthwhile investment.
