Beginnings are critical. That is why we are committed to offering the best student instruments to beginning players. We believe this commitment is why Hoffmann instruments have become so popular with teachers, schools, parents, and beginning students of all ages.
We designed Franz Hoffmann instruments to give you the absolute best student violins, violas, cellos, and basses available on the market today. The consistent quality in materials, construction, playability, tone, and visual appeal make them a great value for every beginning string student.
Working closely with workshops, we have carefully designed and crafted each Franz Hoffmann instrument to ensure our specifications are met. These instruments are then sent to our Ann Arbor workshop to receive final adjustments assuring easy playability and polished looks.
Why should I value any opinion about anything if I do not know you? These reviews, like all reviews are just fairy tales because I do not know you or your knowledge about violins.
In the words of our violin teacher- "this violin doesn't sing". I don't even like the sound as much as the Angels String 1/8 size violin we had before this 1/4 size Maestro. It's a pretty violin, but disappointed in the sound. Perhaps the quality is inconsistent,
as others seem quite pleased. This has a flatness of sound, no roundness or richness, the E string is annoyingly bright.
We are parents of a 2nd year student. We purchased this as an upgrade because our son outgrew the 3/4 Prelude we purchased previously. He was not unhappy with that instrument as a starter but says this one sounds much nicer. It is a beautiful instrument as well :-)
My son has been playing for a little over 3 years. As his parents, we have no knowledge or ear for violins. We ordered 4 different violins from Shar and brought them into his teacher. We didn't tell her names or prices of any, and hands down she picked this violin. We think it sounds great.
I am parent and teacher. I bought my 10 y.o. a 1/4 size "Maestro" about a year ago. We have been pleased. Better sound than I expected out of this size and price. She is an early-intermediate player and this fiddle has served her well.
