REVIEW VIDEOS

For the violinist seeking to blend artfully with partners in a quartet, this 19th century violin by William Booth is well worth considering. With excellent tonal and color balance, this instrument is also versatile across the repertoire. The back is of one piece of maple with faint flaming. The top is of straight narrow-grained spruce. The golden-brown varnish is applied over a golden ground.

William Booth was born in Leeds, England in 1779. He was an active violinmaker from 1809 until 1856. In 1838 he was joined in his shop by his son, whom he trained. Booth worked primarily in a Stradivari long pattern, as well as Amati style.
