Bow arrived in good condition, appears new and is nice looking. It is straight, stiff and tracks well. Wt is comparable to my Marco Raposo pernambuco bow and noticeably heavier than my Arcus Sinfonia. The tone it draws from my 2005 Shan Jiang is somehow more strident and less pleasing than my other two bows. Ease of play is not as good as the Arcus and tone quality not as warm/even as the Raposo. Price is very good and the bow is certainly a good value, but it is not an upgrade from my current bows. I am a self taught country fiddler with years of playing behind me but I have distinct technical limits. This bow might be fine for an advancing student and I’m sure a trained player could get a lot more out of it than I can. I will do one more playing test with my daughter-who has a great ear-listening and will probably end up returning this bow and asking Shar for a trial of other carbon fiber bows.
Just received my new bow. The bow is very nice and I hope it will roll over to making me a better violinist……that may be too much to expect from the bow. Thank you. Alan
I was looking for a lighter weight bow in order to do more fiddling. After talking to a rep, I decided on this one. I was not disappointed with this presto ovation bow. I really love it. It handles well and glides easily over my strings, making fiddling easier.
I received my bow and I was soooooo impressed. You definitely get more than you pay for. Couldn't have been more happy with my first Shar Music Product!
I ordered a Presto Ovation 4/4 bow 11-18-23 @ $300. The bow is due to arrive today (11-22). I noticed it's now on sale for $224. I called Shar and was told in order to get the sale price I'd have to initiate a return, ship it back, and re-order. RIDICULOUS!!!! I expect MORE from this company.
