Overture Ultra Violin String Set - 4/4 size - Medium Gauge

This review apparently is on the new violin strings, rather than on the rented violin the strings went on. I broke my G string on my rental, and Shar replaced them with these. As typical with new strings, it initially struggled to maintain pitch, but it's been ok once pitch became a bit more stable.

I have 2 violins - but only one of my violins likes the Overture Ultras, and these strings work great with it. Wonderful sound and durability at an affordable price. On my second violin, I was shocked on how terrible these strings sounded and I immediately changed the strings. It just goes to show the individuality of each instrument. So I recommend trying them. If your violin likes them, then count yourself lucky to get a great sound at a great price!

The only problem is that the G string does seem to be weak. Two of them have broken in a seven month period. The strings do sound very nice on my violin and have a reasonable price. My A string has a fray near the nut of the violin but has been on the instrument about two years. The other strings have been on it for two years and do not appear to have any problems.

I really like the respomse and complex sound from my instrument with these strings. I have about 20 hours on them at this point and they have settled in nicely. I use a pickup and 60 amp fiddle amp, and they lend a better sound than the heavy gage strings that I used before, Lots of compliments received about the wonderful warm fiddle sound that Im projecting. Great value, I believe I found an excellent string value with excellent sound. The D took about 6 hours to finially settle in, the only problem encountered so far. Give them a try !

The strings offer a great value for a string quality that suits me perfectly. One problem I now have a lot of spare E's lying around :-)
