REVIEW VIDEOS

Are you an active string player, running nonstop to rehearsals, performances, and lessons? Do you bring all your sheet music and accessories with you because there is zero time between performances? Have you yearned for a free hand to take a phone call, grab a bite to eat, or to hold your umbrella when it rains?

The Joey is a revolutionary new solution to carrying your violin case and all your accessories with ease! (It also works great with viola and double cases.) With the highest quality backpacking straps and cushions normally found only on top-end hiking and climbing gear, you'll forget you're wearing the Joey, yet everything you need is at hand.

Using the Joey is a snap! Easy to attach around any oblong violin/viola or double case, and just as easy to remove. Secure clips and even a safety strap assure that your case isn't going anywhere except with you.

Everything an active player needs in one place, with a stylish look! Black fabric with reflective piping assures a great look with added safety, and the backpack straps stow under a flap when not in use. Zippered storage pockets easily hold a large orchestra folder, several quartets, metronome, pre-amp, cable, and pencils. There is a special pouch for your iPad or Kindle and you can even bring your folding music stand or umbrella in Joey's special, fold-flat storage pouch.

Straps not long enough for viola case

The backpack was advertised as being large enough for a viola or double case. The lower straps are long enough to go around my viola case, but the upper ones are not.

Also, the straps are folded over only once and stitched, which means they can still pass through the slots in the buckles, causing the instrument to fall out. The ends of the straps should be folded twice and stitched, to ensure that they are too large to fit through the slots.

Keeps all my stuff together

My violin case is a shaped case. It carries it fine, but I do have to make some adjustments to make it snug. I think this is a great purchase for me because I won't look like a Christmas tree going to and fro my teacher's studio! Thank you for this, Shar Music!

Good concept, almost perfect execution

The idea is solid and the construction rugged enough, the pockets especially the zippered expandable one which can hold a folding music stand well thought out. The only things I'd fix in the next version are the straps, there is no sternal strap so the backpack plus instrument in case puts a lot of pressure on your arms and that can cause numbness in your hands. I added an aftermarket sternal strap to solve this. The strap meant to go through your case handle is not otherwise attached to the Joey, so it's always falling off when packing and unpacking, this would be better attached even if along a sliding section like many backpacks have to adjust how high the pack rides.
