Published by William E. Hills & Sons, 1931.
This companion volume to Hill & Sons' Antonio Stradivari: Life & Work chronicles the lives of these master violin makers-a story of Cremonese craftsman, the environment in which they passed their existence, and a result of their working life in all its bearings. Includes complete birth and death dates and sources of their knowledge and inspiration. 173 pp., 17 color plates, 44 photographic plates, 51 illustrations.
This deluxe 1st edition has the original ivory vellum binding and green cloth covers with Guarneri crest. The top of the pages are edged in gilt, and the side and bottom edges of the pages are uncut, leaving a stylistically authentic jagged edge. There is no slip cover.
This particular book, pictured above, is in very good condition (binding loose, vellum on spine discolored, cover corners slightly worn). This copy is not a numbered edition.
