This book is part of “The Natural Way to Note Reading” developed especially for the Ann Arbor Suzuki Institute Reading Classes by Evelyn Bedient AvSharian and E. Catherine Keresztesi. It was pilot tested at the Ann Arbor Suzuki Institute and Blue Lake Fine Arts Suzuki Family Camp. The workbook begins with practice in drawing the G clef, notes, Sharps, and rests, and then offers a simple explanation of 2/4 and 4/4 time and intervals. The rest of the book are “incomplete” pieces that require the student to fill in the blank beats with enough notes and rests to complete the piece. The students are encouraged to listen and play their creations, and to experiment. The book includes twelve pieces, two of which are duets, and two of which are clapping duos. The back cover has blank staffs for a new composition. Evelyn AvSharian’s classic oversized notation makes reading and writing easy, especially for young students. 16 pages.
