Highly recommend for all beginners. These can also be transferred to a pencil for practicing the bow hold before students start playing with the bow.

first time using a bow buddie with a 6 year old student. up til now she did not like to use the bow and we've been studying pizz, she couldn't seem to hold, until i put the bow buddie on and she loved the pink color and it gave her an instant proper hold. so this is a great teaching tool, it's comfortable. only down side is you have to unscrew nut to get it on and off, and it doesnt fit into 1/4 size violin case attached to bow very well. i dont know if mom will screw on and off for her at home.

I love how the bow hold buddies work to form a good bow hold. The Hold Fish holds the pinky in place well, and the frog accessory is successful in repelling a collapsed thumb. I do have two complaints about the Bow Hold Buddies: 1. The head of the frog creates a large space between the index and middle fingers, too much in my opinion, and 2. The bow cannot be placed in a case holder without taking the frog accessory off. Other than those two things, though, this is a great teaching tool!

Several of my suzuki violin students are using the bow hold buddies, They are absolutely fabulous! Also, one of my adult students has been using it as well, as she has arthritis, and it's correcting her bow hold and she has an easier time holding it. Fantastic Teaching Tool!

My student is visually impaired, and was having some trouble mimicking my my bow hold just by feel. I saw this just as she was starting to get frustrated, purchased it, and was thrilled with the results! She can easily find the correct hand position without having to put her violin down to feel her bow, and it has made her much more confident in her bow strokes. Her tone has really improved!

I like the pinky guide very much. It works well even for small hands and they like the animal theme. The frog part isn't very workable for small hands, however, and bothers the student. I found it uncomfortable myself.

Hi Diana! The Bow Hold Buddies are designed to be easily attached and removed from your bow. Depending on your case, you may or may not be able to store your bow with the Bow Hold attached. If your case does not allow for storage while the Bow Hold is attached, simply remove and store them separately. If you have any additional question, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-248-7427.
