I wish I'd never taken the chance

I thought I'd take a chance on these strings. While the A, G, and C are sort of ok - maybe a 3 out of 5 - the kevlar D was a giant mistake. On my viola it's muddy, choked, and doesn't respond well under my bow. The sonic quality differences are obvious even to the untrained (but still musical) ear of my partner. They are also taking much longer to settle in than any set I've used in the last decade. I honestly wish I could go back in time and not buy this product. I'll be forking over the extra for Obligatos, Evah Pirazzi, or any of the Vision strings next time.

I'm always reluctant to try new strings and this has only supported that fear. I have stuck to Evah golds with a Larsen A, even when I bought a new viola. The instrument has a big, full sound, so I was hoping to find a string that would help bring out the rich/darker side of things but maintain a bold sound. This was not it unfortunately. The strings are slow to speak and don't produce a very resonant sound. String-to-string I suppose they are fairly even, but I notice the biggest discrepancy lies in different positions and the string's ability to produce tone drastically decreased as you shift upward. Worse, the tone tends to "break" as the string length gets shorter if the player makes any attempt to produce a clearer or bigger sound.
