The stick is of orange-brown pernambuco, round in shape changing to octagonal at the butt end. The frog is of ebony and silver with a Parisian eye at each of the faces. The button is capped in silver.

Hubert Chanon (b. 1957) learned the violin at the Conservatoire Régional de Lyon, in France. At the age at the age of 19, he set off on an adventure in Quebec for the city of Jonquière. In 1979, he moved to Sherbrooke where he taught the violin until 1986. In 1986, Hubert opened the Atelier de Lutherie Enr. He then perfected himself as a bow maker with William Salchow in New York. He was advised and influenced by Tom Wilder, Jean-François Raffin, André Lavoye and Blaise Emmelin. In 1996, he received a Certificate of Merit for a violin bow presented at the Violin Society of America competition. He has produced over 250 bows.
