The beautiful Concerto for Two Violins in d minor, RV 565, drawn from Vivaldi's L'estro Armonico, Op. 3, is characterized by close imitation between the two violins that blurs the opening bar-lines and, when played well, gives the listener the impression of an ethereal echo. The whole orchestra then participates in a fugue that is passed around between the instruments. This edition for two violins and piano is edited by Ivan Galamian.
