REVIEW VIDEOS
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was an infamous Italian composer and violinist of the Baroque era. Often revered as one of the greatest Baroque era composers during and after his lifetime (4 March 1678 - 28 July 1741). Credited for initiating a standardization of the concerto form, Vivaldi composed countless works and many for his respected instrument of study: the violin.
This work: Concerto in A major, Op. 9, No. 6 was written for the Habsburg Emperor Charles VI who was a patron of Vivaldi and who had given the composer knighthood. This concerto belongs to a set of 12 violin concertos titled ‘La Cetra’ (the cittern or lyre) and has the 6th and 12th in the collection utilize the technique of scordatura, adjusting the tuning of the strings in the solo part as again homage to the Habsburg Emperor.
This edition contains the solo part and the accompanying piano part. The violin part and the piano part were edited by Louis Kaufman and Katharina Uhde.
