Locatelli, Pietro - Sonata in D Major - Cello with opt. Cello II - International Music Co.
REVIEW VIDEOS
Composed for violin and transcribed for cello by Alfredo Piatti in 1894, Locatelli's Sonata in D major is the sixth of twelve sonatas written in 1746. With its high register double stops, challengingly swift passages, and pervasive up- and down-bow staccato, this sonata is perfect for the intermediate to advanced player ready to stretch their technical and interpretative abilities in tandem.
Editors Daniel Morganstern and James Kim have provided, not only ample fingering and bowing suggestions, but a wealth of technical and practice advice that are sure to de-mystify the difficult work. This edition also comes with an optional second cello part, arranged by Morganstern, which can replace or enrich the normal piano accompaniment (not included).
