Best of the best

The Larsen Virtuosos are the best set of strings I have used. I have them installed on my two violas and three violins. They are the only string set that gets the quality of tonal modulation with both warmth and brilliance and no added coloration to the sound on all of the above instruments that I used to enjoy on the Olive strings I used for many decades, but with far greater tuning stability.

To the reviewer leaving the three one-star reviews, I would say that not every great string set will work well on every instrument. Always there is a match that needs to be made between string set and instrument. Of course, it is possible that there was a defective string, which I have never come across with the Virtuosos. I suggest that you may have a wolf in your instrument with this string on the G. You might want to take your instrument to a luthier to explore that possibility.

Bad G string

The G string is very bad. Impossible to play double stops tuned. I had to buy an extra Evah G string to replace the one that came with the set. Not happy:(

Bad G string

I was excited to trying these strings however there is big problem with the G string. It doesn't tune at all when playing double stops. I have tried all possible finger placement and left hand tricks but there is no way to get any double stops tuned with this G string. It feels not elastic enough, and it performs very different from any other G string I have used. Since the A string is a regular original Larsen and the G is trash I am not happy the set. Maybe I was lucky enough to get a defective one (sarcasm). I had to buy an extra G string today at the local store which made me spend an extra 42 bucks. Now I can play better in tune with a new Evah Pirazzi G string.

bad G string

I was excited to try these strings. They sound great however there is big problem with the G string. It doesn't tune at all when playing double stops. I have tried all possible left hand tricks but there is no way to get any double stops tuned with this G string. It feels that the material, or the amount of material of the G string is different or too much, making it less elastic, creating problem with the neighbor strings. Since the A string is a regular original Larsen and the G is trash I am not happy the set. Maybe I was lucky enough to get a defective one (sarcastic comment). I also had to buy an extra G string today at the local store which made me spend an extra 42 bucks. Now I can play better in tune with a new Evah Pirazzi G string. Unfortunately, a waste of money since they are not cheap. String companies should either lower their price or get a much better quality control, or at least concentrate in making one or two good sets of strings instead launching a "new" string set every since year.
