Once presented by Fritz Kreisler as the long-lost work of Baroquecomposer Gaetano Pugnani, the Praeludium and Allegro (along with manyother works discovered” by Kreisler) was later found to be Kreisler’s ownoriginal work, scandalizing many music critics of the day! Despite its dramatic history, Praeludium and Allegro (now subtitled in the style of Pugnani”) is still among thebest-loved works in the violin literature. Now violists can enjoy it, too!
