I recently acquired a bass viola da gamba and wanted a stand so it would be convenient whenever I wanted to practice. This stand is made of attractive wood, is sturdy and inexpensive and fills the bill perfectly. I’m very happy with it.
I was skeptical about using this stand for my cello when I first read about it online, but it's fantastic! It's very stable and steady, and easy on the eyes too! It might not the best option if you have kids and/or pets that could knock into it with some force, but in the absence of such external threats, the stand keeps the cello safe. I used a 3M hook on the wall next to it to have a place to hang my bow.
It fits my cello as advertised. The frame is very sturdy. Works great while on stage and at home practicing as a temporary stand. I'm comfortable putting my cello on it.
I love this stand. It actually helps me to practice more regularly. My instrument is always within easy reach, so I can just sit down and start playing instead of having to rescue her (the cello) from the confines of her case every time.
This stands hits the sweet spot. Affordable and well made.
