John Norwood Lee (b. 1953) is a distinguished American maker and restorer of fine bows for stringed instruments, based in Chicago. Originally from near San Francisco, Lee began his craft in 1977 when he joined the renowned Bein & Fushi workshop in Chicago. By 1978, he had opened his own bow-making and restoration shop. Lee’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship has earned him widespread acclaim. In 1982, he was awarded a prestigious Gold Medal for workmanship at the Violin Society of America competition.
