James Tubbs (1835-1921) was one of the most prominent and prolific English bowmakers, making thousands of bows throughout his career. He was trained by his father, William Tubbs, for many years before he eventually started his own shop in the 1850's. James Tubbs was an exceptionally gifted bowmaker and has been placed in the same category as other renowned bowmakers including Tourte, Peccatte, and Voirin.
