If you often carry your cello case on your back, or would like to, the Shar Cello Case Backpack System is the best way to do it. It's strong, safe, and easy to use – simply fasten onto the D-rings on your case, adjust the length to your liking and off you go. No drilling or modification of your cello case shell is required! Best of all, your comfort level will skyrocket because the system uses professional-grade neoprene cushioning to make your cello case feel much lighter. An added feature is the back cushion, which connects separately – not only does it add even more comfort, but it offers compartments where you may stow sheet music and small accessories.

NOTE: The Shar Cello Case Backpack System works ONLY with cello cases that have a single top D-ring, or side-by-side top D-rings. It will not work with cello cases that have two separate D-rings at the top.

This is the backpack system ONLY. A hard shell cello case is NOT included.

Plastic clips break

Wanted this item to better. The shoulder straps are good but the clips holding the cushion to the case are made of plastic and one broke after light use and elastic ties holding those clips are already losing their stretch. At this price, the item should be more durable.

This has been, by far, the most comfortable, purpose designed shoulder strap for the cello case. It is also moderately priced which is awesome!

Regret buying this

I'm sorry to say my high hopes for this were not met. I bought it mainly for the music pouch which disappointed me. It appears larger than it is and will hold very little music. As a free-lancer, I am sometimes working on 4 or 5 concerts at a time and this pouch is insufficient for that amount of music. It is also small so will not fit large sized orchestra parts, a Kalmus opera part, or the old French editions of chamber music. As for the straps, as someone who likes his case to ride low, I wished the straps had more length than they do, although that might not bother other people. It also wouldn't kill you to include little diagram of how the thing all gets put together.

I have had this system over two years. I use it constantly and the straps are just now showing some wear. I do not use the bag much as it does not fit much music. The padding is really nice with the straps and the backpack carrying a large hard case. I am going with my orchestra to Italy and look forward to having the cushioned straps for the lengthy walks from hotels to venues where we are performing.
