A little overpriced in my opinion, but definitely the best shoulder rest I've ever used. I have a very long neck, and Kun and Everest simply aren't tall enough for me. The bonmusica is very adaptable and much more professional-looking than the sponge I've been using for 12 years
Bonmusica Viola Shoulder Rest
*Check the width of the rests with Shar before ordering. I ordered a shoulder rest for a 16" viola: when it arrived, it did not fit. The feet are 8 1/4" wide and do not adjust; my viola is 10 1/2" wide. It took two days for customer service to respond and they said they didn't have any larger ones, even though 17" ones are offered here. I have to pay shipping to return it so I can get a refund. I am very disappointed. :(
I have a rather large *and* heavy viola. This shoulder rest has changed everything for the better. My vibrato and intonation have both improved, and I don't have shoulder and neck fatigue any more. I wish I had found this solution years ago!
Over the years, I've had many different shoulder rests, including Resonans, Wolf, Kun, and Everest. In the past, I've not had too many issues with those brands, but I found as I got older, I needed a bit more support from my shoulder rest. I've also had situations where the feet on certain shoulder rests gradually slip out of position and sometimes, off the instrument. I recently purchased a Bonmusica and have been very pleased with the shoulder rest. It took me a few practice sessions to get it set up for my instrument and body but once I did that, I had no problems with slippage, over-flexing, or neck pain. I find the Bonmusica to be very well made.
