A fine English cello bow crafted in the renowned W.E. Hill & Sons workshop by Arthur J. Barnes, one of the firm’s highly regarded makers of the early 20th century. Barnes’ work is recognized for its elegance, precision, and superb playing qualities — qualities that have made Hill bows coveted by discerning cellists for generations.

This bow features a beautifully shaped round pernambuco stick with excellent strength and flexibility, finished with Hill’s classic fittings including a silver-mounted ebony frog and silver capped adjuster. Barnes’ maker’s mark, “5”, can be found on the silver tip plate, an authentic touch that speaks to its provenance within the celebrated Hill tradition.

Balancing clarity, warmth, and projection, this bow offers refined articulation and a responsive feel across all registers. An ideal choice for the advanced cellist.
