Richard Grünke (1930, Poland) apprenticed under Edwin Herrmann in 1945 and completed his apprenticeship in the H.R. Pfretzschner workshop in Markneukirchen between 1946 & 1948. Grünke left Pfretzschner in 1950 to work for Alfred Leicht of Berlin. In 1952, he moved to Bubenreuth to work for Roderich Paesold and after completing his master's examination in 1957, the Paesold shop began allowing Grünke to brand his bows with his own name. He established his own shop in Bubenreuth in 1975 and founded Richard Grünke & Shöne GmbH in 1996.
