REVIEW VIDEOS

Composer Peter Schickele is a composer, humorist, and musicologist, who is best known to the musical world as the genius behind the fictional, and farcical, composer P.D.Q. Bach. Styled as one of the forgotten sons of J.S. Bach, P.D.Q. Bach's works are frequently satires and pastiches of famous works or well known classical conventions. Schickele, who claims to be the "discoverer" of P.D.Q.'s compositions, has been lauded as a composer who pokes fun at the scent of elitism which often surrounds classical music.

P.D.Q Bach's Sonata for Viola Four Hands and Harpsichord plays on the conventions of the genre of 4 handed piano pieces. In this composition, two players each use a bow to play the same viola--a feat that is amusing visually as well as impressive technically.

Arranged by Peter Schickele and published by Theodore Presser. Performace guide is included.
