If you do not like the rigidity and size of most shoulder rests, yet would like a bit of support and comfort from your violin's corners, Robert's Rufty Tufty Violin Comfort Pad is the answer. Made by hand in the USA by Robert Gardner, the Rufty Tufty is super easy to use: simply slip the leather tab over your violin's end button, and stretch the elastic cord to safely attach to the corner of the center bout. With suede on one side and soft fleece on the other, you can install it with the fleece up, or down, whatever works best for you. For 4/4 and 3/4 size violins.
This item comes with Shar's 1 year warranty covering defects of workmanship or materials. General wear and tear or mis-use are not covered. Non-transferable.

An amazing, versatile, adjustable, creation. 62 years of playing the violin, the last 10 have been without, yes, without a shoulder rest! Just needed a way to cushion my bony collar bone. This little guy works! Thank you.
The Rufty Tufty pad, used with the leather side toward my sho ulder, gives me much more control of the violin, and also reduces fatigue.
The Rufty Tufte is not large enough, and it does not fit.
I have used this violin pad for years since my teacher gave me one. It is durable, so easy to use and provides just the right amount of padding. So happy to see them for sale here!
I enjoy using Kun style shoulder rests, but I'm trying to lower my violin's position against my shoulder and allow it to be more mobile from left to right. Using this pad works nicely because it provides traction and just a little cushion against your collarbone, and it allows you to move as if you are playing shoulder rest-less.
