Pirastro Tonica Strings

Tonica strings have a core made from nylon. They produce a lively well-rounded sound, perfectly balanced across all four strings. Responding instantly to any bowing style, they reward both player and listener with an open and direct sound. With substantially reduced background 'hiss', players can sustain a more even tone helping to achieve smoother string crossings. With a highly responsive left hand feel, these strings remain very easy to play all the way up to the highest positions.

Great strings!

I’ve used these for years and they never let me down!

Strings sound great!

These are my new favorite strings for my antique violin! They sound so much better than Dominants on this particular violin.

Not for my violin

I usually use Helicore strings and wanted to try something different. My violin is louder than average, so I was hoping to get a quieter string set. These are actually louder than Helicores and sound very nasally on my instrument. I don't care for them.

Good strings, great price!

I saw the previous review, and thought I'd add to it. Yes, Helicores are very clear sounding strings, and these are a little softer/mellower. I think these strings sound great and play great on some violins (my Weishaar). I used to play Evah Parazzi on
this particular fiddle, and for the last 2 years I think these Tonicas sound better. So, I guess my point is to try them, and see how they sound on your violin.

Nice strings

I am by no means an audiophile, but I like these better than my Dominants. The e string, in particular, does not have the whiney metallic edge to it. Just a nice set of strings, and for a reasonable price.
