About This Item

My Very Best Christmas Violin Edition
17 Violin Solos, Duets, and a play-along recording on Christmas Favorites.
arranged and edited by Karen Khanagov
MelBay Publications

Violinist Karén Khanagov holds masters degrees from both Azerbaijan State Conservatory and the University of Oklahoma. After becoming a refugee, he eventually settled in Oklahoma City, where he currently serves on faculty at Oklahoma City University. As a freelance violinist, he also records, composes, and arranges.

An active and prolific music publisher, Karén Khanagov has created a series of books for every level of string player. With appealing and accessible melodies, progressively more challenging passagework, and practice hints, the entire range of books are written as a skilled teacher would present them, and will appeal to serious player, from beginner to professional.

The seventeen Christmas songs in this volume, arranged in comfortable keys, can be used for players at different levels and for all kinds of occasions. All three editions (Violin, Viola, and Cello) include two parts for either solo or duet performance and piano accompaniment. The three books are all compatible so that ensembles may mix and match parts as desired. Suzuki groups may particularly enjoy these arrangements. The audio provides the piano accompaniments alone. It can be used for back-up, improvisatory play-along, or for pleasant listening by itself. Includes two 24-page pull-out parts for Violin I and Violin II and access to online audio. Includes titles:

Joy to the World
O Come, All Ye Faithful
Deck the Halls
Angels from the Realms of Glory
Away in a Manger
Infant Holy
Hark, the Herald Angles Sing
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
The First Noel
What Child is This?
Angels We Have Heard on High
Silent Night
O Little Town of Bethlehem
We Three Kings
O Holy Night
Jingle Bells
We Wish You A Merry Christmas
