A favorite among Suzuki and other Private teachers who prefer a warm tone with strong projection.

The Maestro is a beautifully-performing and dependable violin that possesses all the hallmarks of time-tested craftsmanship. The tone, playability, hand-feel and consistency will keep students motivated, teachers impressed and parents delighted. With an unusually warm, round tone, yet outstanding projection, the Franz Hoffmann Maestro stands a head taller than other student violins at this price. Carefully adjusted and test played in our Ann Arbor workshop, your Maestro is ready to play and sure to delight for years to come. 4/4 - 1/4 sizes.

Great violin

I bought this violin outfit for my 4yr old son to start with. Our violin teacher loves it so much, she's buying one for her daughter. It sounds nice and it's beautiful quality for a cheaper end violin. I gave it 4 stars as the bow that came with the outfit is a little on the cheap side. Right out of the box, there were hairs that were not as taught as others. I do wish it had a different E string. But overall, this is a violin for a 4yr old, it will not always be pleasing to my ear, nor will it have the best of care... lol It was a fantastic purchase and i highly recommend Shar violins. I will say that i have the Franz Hoffmann Concert violin, the stain/varnish is not as pretty to look at as the Maestro, but it is a nicer sounding violin to me and can really project as where i find the Maestro a bit quieter and not as rich in the low notes. I bought it as a starter violin and honestly, i dont know i want to part with it to upgrade...

Excellent Choice

This violin is all and more that Shar says about it.
I do recommend ordering the Outfit with the TC100 case. The TC66 case has you place the second bow upside down hanging from its hair.
Unlike another reviewer the bow that came with my violin is holding up well with lots of practice. Nothing wrong with ordering a carbon fiber bow at the same time though.

radically awesome

Ive recently gotten mine and so far she preforms beautifully. I do recommend that anyone who buys this outfit upgrades their bow. The bow that come with it is okay but not good enough for long term use. The violin )well at least mine( has a very rich tone. Its nicely setup and Im having fun practicing on it. I would advise getting a practice mute this violin is very loud and preforms just as wonderfully with a mute. Its a very good investment.

Amazing.

I received Sophia in November of 2008. Playing the violin had been a life long dream of mine. So for my 19th birthday I decided to fulfill it. My teacher referred me to Shar. Sophia is perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better violin. The only thing I changed when I got her was her E string. Don't let the price tag fool you. She was worth every penny and I'd spend it again in a heartbeat.
