Andranik Gaybaryan Violin 2009 Op. 72

A powerful violin with fine projection, tonally balanced to suit a wide variety of playing, from solo to orchestral work. Fine wood selection and attention to detail from this very respected contemporary master. The back is of one piece of flamed narrow-width maple, descending from treble to bass. The top is of medium width and well-defined grain. Varnish is red-orange over a subtle yellow ground.

Andranik Gaybaryan began his violin studies at the age of 6, eventually earning his Artist’s Diploma from the Rachmaninov Conservatory of Music, in Rostov, Russia.  Simultaneously, he studied violinmaking, rising to head of restoration at his alma mater. His studies in both violin performance and violin making informs his work. His efforts have led to the highest praise from such luminaries as Zakhar Bron and Vadim Repin, among many others. Establishing his workshop in Massachusetts in 2002, Andranik Gaybaryan has honed his reputation as one of the most respected luthiers in the US. His instruments are heard on concert stages around the world and his making is indicative of a master who is also a professional violinist.
