About This Item

New York Philharmonic "Master Series" Violin

Carefully hand-crafted by the New York Stringed Instrument Company in conjunction with the New York Philharmonic, this instrument is a 1715 Stradivarius model design. It has been made using carefully aged, beautifully flamed maple backs, ribs, neck and scroll and European spruce tops. Hand varnishing, following the Italian tradition, using four layers of oil varnish, dried naturally in the sun, brings out the quality of tone production and appearance. Quality fittings complete your violin: ebony Hill-style pegs, a hand-crafted French bridge, and a ebony tailpiece with fine tuner. 4/4 size.

"The violins have a rich and even sound. Perfect for the budding violinist, on the way to becoming a future member of the New York Philharmonic"
- Frank Huang, Concertmaster, NY Philharmonic

"We work with thousands of talented students every year, too many of whom are being held back by inadequate instruments. A student who aspires to play professionally, certainly at the level of the New York Philharmonic, at some point needs a quality instrument. The New York Philharmonic "Apprentice" and "Master" model Violins hit the sweet spot of affordability and quality, as judged by Philharmonic musicians themselves."
- Theodore Wiprud, Vice President, Education
