Customer Questions

Question by:

  • RICHARD BROOKS
  • EL CERRITO, CA

Asked On: 10/30/2018

1) Is feedback an issue? 2) How balanced is the sound when the photo shows it going under the E and G strings and over the A and D strings? 3) Is a preamp required?

SHAR Answer:

Hello Richard! This pickup is essentially a microphone, so it is possible for you to experience interference from external sounds or other percussive sounds the instrument makes. A preamp is not required, but using one could help filter out some of that external noise. Balance-wise, it is equally loud across all 4 strings because of the way the pickup is weaved between the strings.

Question by:

  • Michaela Bush
  • Cherry Tree, PA

Asked On: 10/30/2017

Can I plug this into an effects pedal (say a Bunnel metal pedal or Danelectro distortion pedal) while maintaining good tone? Looking for a more metal-ish/rock sound but I'm also new to electric.

SHAR Answer:

Hi Michaela, thanks for your question. Yes, you can use this pickup to plug your instrument into effects pedals. However, we recommend using a preamp to boost audio level and improve tone. Please follow the link to view preamps and let us know if you have any additional questions.
