Virtuoso Wrist Practice Aid - fits 4/4 - 1/2 size - Black
Founded by a professional violinist and teacher, Wrist Aids LLC is an accessory company focused on providing left-hand wrist practice aids.
The Virtuoso Wrist Practice Aid is the first and only left-hand wrist aid made specifically for all string instrument players: VIOLIN / VIOLA / CELLO / BASS. It is the ultimate teaching tool and practice tool, designed to help beginning string students learn and practice proper left-hand wrist position.
Custom velcro straps adjust around the palm above the thumb, and around the forearm near the wrist. It enables the student player to learn correct "straight wrist" left-hand position, as improper wrist-bent-backwards left-hand position prevents the fingers from efficiently reaching the fingerboard. It also enables the student to understand basic shifting from 1st to 3rd position, as it helps the student keep the wrist and forearm moving as a unit during this more complex task.
"The fundamental goal of effective practice is to repeat the desired skills correctly again and again until the muscle memory becomes automatic. This is exactly what the Virtuoso Wrist Practice Aid will do for you and your students when you use it regularly."

This doesn't work. My son and I both tried it and the only thing it did was make it uncomfortable to play. His wrist still popped up with it on.
Virtuoso Wrist Practice Aid
I'm a teacher and I think this practice aid is fantastic! And it comes in 2 sizes (adult and junior) to fit any student.
I bought the smaller size of this from SHAR back in 2011 and it was hopeless. There is another product which is basically wrist band with a piece of foam in it called Wrist Assistant that they should sell instead. It's marvelous and worked well for both my kids. good luck!
This aid did not help resolve my problem with me wanting to bend my wrist which then touches the neck of the violin. However, I put it on the inside (palm side) of my hand and that worked better. It is a little uncomfortable but that is just a constant reminder to not bend you wrist.
Another gimmick that doesn't work...
When I saw the description of this, I was elated...something to help me with "pancake wrist" ... yes! But -- I must be doing something wrong because it does nothing at all to help. I even tried placing the aid on the opposite side of the hand, thinking that my tendency was to, perhaps, bend my wrist the other direction. No help.
Not very comfortable. I gave it 2 star's because it's a pretty good idea but I think there are better choices for wrist helpers out there. Mine was just uncomfortable, and it didn't work very well for me. Maybe someone else it would be better suited. Im an older lady and it was rough on my skin. My teacher is letting me use the rascal wrist helper and I prefer that on so far.
Did Not Work
Seemed logical so thought I'd try it. Did not work at all and was still able to bend wrist easily. Tried to tighten and it just hurt my hand. My teacher even tried it and agreed that he didn't see how it could help, while laughing. Paid $15 for something that cost $3 or so. Ended up throwing it in trash caqn...but saved the Velcro straps that might come in handy for something else!
