A powerful and brilliant German violin with excellent tonal balance. Two piece back of quarter sawn maple, with wide flaming descending from the center joint. The top is of fine, straight grained spruce. Appealing light brown varnish over a golden ground.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1877, Theodor Berger received his early training there, later relocating to Markneukirchen, Germany. He established his own shop in 1918.
