Rodolphe Kreutzer was a very important violinist-composer in his own day. His legacy to today’s violinists is not limited to the 42 Studies (also called etudes” or caprices”), but they are certainly the best remembered of his works. Few students of the violin have advanced without spending some time with Kreutzer’s 42 Studies!
The Carl Fischer edition of this work is edited by Edmund Singer and includes an additional version of the 12th etude, arranged by Henry Lambert. It also includes a practice planning page at the end of the text.
