I am surprised nobody has rated this book! ALL the Suzuki teachers and many others use this to do preparation for college scholarship auditions! It is abridged from the Carl Flesh and also (in revision) the Galamian Scales - Take your pick! Barbara has always produced amazing insites to teaching young string players - violinists, and violists. She has graced many Suzuki camps for years doing teacher training and I use THIS scale book as well as the Fingerboard Geography - another excellent book. You can't go wrong with this. Students can use it straight through college or until their professors insist on the original versions of Carl Flesh or Galamian. But this is all one needs for a lifetime. It can be taught as early as Book 2 and 3 in Suzuki where we add shifting to the music anyway. I LOVE this book - use no other.

Hi Cheryl! This scale book features 3 octave scales and arpeggios and includes scales in broken thirds, as well. From the fingerings shown in the book, there does not appear to be any scales written up one string. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
