French composer Cecile Chaminade was quite prolific, writing many character pieces for piano, some songs for voice and piano, and others. In a time when women as professionals of any kind were rare, Chaminade pursued a career as a performer and composer, often against prescribed norms. Ambroise Thomas, one of her contemporaries, said of her, "This is not a woman who composes, but a composer who is a woman." The Album for Children, Op. 123 was originally written for solo piano, the composer's own instrument.
This version for two violins and cello is transcribed and arranged by Ronald C. Dishinger. Published by Medici Music Press.
