Bartok, the Hungarian composer and 20th Century classical master, was also extremely interested in folk music and frequently toured the countryside recording and transcribing folk melodies. Written for solo piano, Béla Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances is a collection of six melodies collected and transcribed by the composer in the early part of the 20th century. This intermediate-level arrangement for string orchestra contains four of the original six movements. For more information, please see "Item Includes."
