The Brahms Sonata for Viola and Piano in D Major, Opus 78, is actually a transcription of Brahms' Sonata for Violin and Piano in G Major. Originally composed in 1879, the sonata was transposed for cello by Paul Klengel (brother of renowned cellist Julius Klengel) in 1897.
