I am an adult (over age 50) who decided to learn to play violin and viola rather late in life. Because I already play piano and guitar, I have a good grasp of music reading, time, rhythm, key signatures and other fundamentals of music. When I heard that Mark O'Connor had developed a string method I was keenly interested. After my teacher attended one of his string camps earlier this summer, she was very enthused about the Method and on her recommendation, I purchased Viola Book II with the CD. I have to report that I am quickly progressing through the book and my skills are rapidly improving. I am studying classical viola material as well, but I believe that adding the O'Connor Method to my studies has opened a new dimension for me. I would recommend this Method highly.
