Few people think of music when considering Charlie Chaplin, but he was in fact a composer as well as a silent film star. Chaplin was also a well known musician and vocalist. Not only did he compose his own orchestral film scores, he was known to perform them as well. His music was very well received by the public, deservedly. This music is easy to enjoy, both by the performer and their audience.
Oh! that Cello In A New Concert Version: This was the first Chaplin song published in 1916 by the newly formed Charlie Chaplin Publishing Co. Harry Wimmer has created a loving concert transcription of this nostalgic song, which is more like a gentle paraphrase. He gave its premire at his New York Symphony Space Thalia Concert on April 1, 2007. Mr. Wimmers performance can also be heard and seen on YouTUBE.
Difficulty: A4 (Apprentice Rating)
