Schelomo ("Solomon") is Bloch's most well known work from his Jewish Cycle. Composed for Russian cellist Alexander Barjansky, the piece suits the voice of the cello perfectly. Schelomo is rhapsodic in form, with the cello and orchestra (or piano) going back and forth with different themes throughout.
