François Devienne's primary instrument was flute, and he wrote many works for wind instruments. He was an administrator and professor at the Paris Conservatoire in the years following the French Revolution, and has left the music world a prolific legacy in print. These Six Duets, Op. 74, were originally composed for two flutes.
