Saint-Saëns, Camille - Havanaise, Op 83 - Violin and Piano - edited by Rok Klop?i? - G Schirmer Edition
The Havanaise in E Major, Op. 83 is based on the rhythm of a 19th-century Cuban dance known as the habañera. Other famous examples of this dance form include an aria of the same name from Georges Bizet's opera Carmen. The habañera rhythm is felt in 2/4 or 6/8 time, and is characterized by a syncopated first beat (often a triplet) and a straight second beat (two eighth notes). In his Havanaise, Camille Saint-Saëns alternates the sensual rhythms of the dance with rich melodies and fast fingerwork.
This edition for violin with piano reduction is edited by Rok Klop?i?. Published by G. Schirmer.
