Obligato Violin Strings
I've been using the Obligato A, D, & G strings for several years now and like them very much--strong rich tone. However, I do not like the Obligato gold E string. To me it sounds awful, shrill and metallic, and it whistles easily. It's too bad because the gold string is beautiful to look at.
Rich, beautiful sound
I've been using Obligatos for many years in my symphony job. The sound is gorgeous and complements my old Italian violin beautifully. My only complaint is that none of the E string options sound good. They either whistle or fight me. I always buy a Eudoxa Gold Label E which works much better. I've often ended up buying the set of Obligatos and the extra E because it's cheaper. I give away the Obligato E strings to the local school system.
