Non-whistling E string

This string is slightly thicker than other violin E strings. I found the tone to be dull, scratchy, and non-responsive. For me, the sacrifice in tone quality is not worth a couple of whistles.

Whistle-free

Not only does this string sound great but it's totally removed my whistle...of course I'm hoping that my bowing has improved as well, but what a relief to not have that hesitation during string-crossing!

Great String

This string removes all whistles, but the tone quality is equally as nice. The string is more dull than the typical gold e string, but I was still able to produce a beautiful tone!

Kaplan Non-Whisling E

I was having a terrible time with a whistling violin E string. It got so bad that it would wistle, not just in string crossings, but in just playing on the E string. It was repeatable and absolutely un-playable. I thought at first something had changed with my bowing technique, but it whistled with any type of bow stroke at all. I replaced it with a new Dominant, and the problem was largely eliminated, but it would still whistle often in string crossings--especially on double-stops as in the Bach unaccompanied Sonatas and Partitas. I read about the Kaplan non-whistling aluminum wire-wound E and thought I would try it. I did and it stopped the whistling dead. I can now play, confident that the E string will not whistle under any conditions. I thought there would be some compromise to such a string, but to my amazement the string also has a beautiful, non-shrill tone. I cannot hear any compromise in tonal quality or fullness of projection, and best of all it never whistles. It made me very happy. Concerning the first problem string, I never realized that a string could suddenly become such a problem. It was a sudden and drastic change. No manner of rosin, or lack thereof, different bows, different bow tensions, or bowing styles could remedy the problem. But the Kaplan string did--well worth the money.

Very good strings

I have used several e strings. I started with a lezner goldbrokat 27 e which I dearly loved. So warm amd beautiful. However it whistled like mad to the point I was frustrating myself. Then I got a the amber warchal e strings. Whistling solved. And the tone was nice. Thin, but oh so sweet sounding. However it was hard to get it to speak up high and the tone sounded just odd very high. Now to the kaplan. Whistling =none. The tone is mellow to the point of almost buttery It has excellent volume. And mixes well with my larsen A original which is also mellow and buttery. Overall a really nice string. Sounds great and sings true up and down the fingerboard.
