A fine example of Markneukirchen violin making of the golden era, this violin has a powerful sound, brilliant and clear. The back is of one piece flamed maple on the diagonal; spruce top of evenly spaced medium grain. Delicately shaded oil varnish in orange-red over a golden ground.
Gustav August Ficker
The Ficker family, of Markneukirchen, is related to Ernst Heinrich Roth. Together, they formed the famous firm of E. H. Roth. Ficker’s work exhibits fine, bold craftsmanship and wood selection, very similar to the work of E. H. Roth.
