About This Item

Hungarian music has always been an experiment of old and new, of classical and folk. Hungarian violinists have represented this rich array of styles, from the soaring brilliance of Joachim and Szigeti to the dark passion of Lakatos. Conservatory training in Hungary focuses as much on the meaning of music and the art of ensemble playing as it does on developing technical mastery.

If you are seeking a violin that will allow you to express your many musical ideas, our new Budapest Lutherie violin may be the partner you have been looking for. Maker-made in the modern tradition, the Budapest Lutherie violin possesses the foundation of old Europe – well-aged spruce and maple from the Carpathian Eastern Alpine forests. With a distinctive sound that sets it apart from most of today's violins, a varnish that allows the sound to emerge, and a fine setup for great hand-feel and playability, this violin is equally at home in the concert hall as in the salon. 4/4 size.

Master's Edition
Instruments Hand selected by our experienced luthiers. Carefully shop adjusted and reworked to optimize the tonal performance of each individual example.

The two Budapest violins look identical, but have different prices. What is the difference?

SHAR Answer:

Hi Robert, thanks for your question! The MLM96 violins are completely reworked in our own shop here in Ann Arbor. We remove the tops from the instruments and our master-level luthiers rework the entire instrument from the inside out to ensure the absolute best tonal outcome. Please feel free to contact our violin shop for more information.
