About This Item

Don't let the low price fool you...this fully-laminated bass is not only attractive, but plays superbly! Gamba shape is perfect for young players beginning to master the higher positions. Quality is evident throughout, from the smoothly-functioning machine-head, adjustable bridge, high-quality veneers and ebony fittings. Our skilled shop technicians adjust each bass, install new strings and send it to our test player, who makes final adjustments.

These Franz Hoffmann basses are made of fine laminates rather than solid wood. This is a more economical choice that also has the advantage of being more durable, especially in resisting cracks which can be common in larger instruments. Our customers have confirmed that these basses have amazing tonal qualities!

What is the blemish?

SHAR Answer:

Hello Barry! All of our blemished instruments are brand new instruments that arrived in our workshop with some sort of aesthetic imperfection. This blemish can be anything from a scuff on the fingerboard to an imperfection in the varnish. The blemish will not effect the sound or playability of the instrument. I hope this helps!
